![]() ![]() These include servers in the United Kingdom, the United States, the Czech Republic, Germany, and the Netherlands. Unfortunately, they still only have a limited number of servers that work with P2P. It is also interesting to note that Avast has servers in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, and in the United States and the United Kingdom. ![]() There are only a handful of companies that have VPNs in Africa. It is interesting to note that Avast has a server in Africa, in Johannesburg to be exact. At the end of 2017, Avast added an additional 14 countries and 23 cities to their roster. ![]() It seems that Avast SecureLine VPN understands how this affected their clients and their reputation. They had servers in 19 countries spread across 27 cities. One of the biggest complaints that people had about Avast SecureLine VPN is the fact that they had very limited service support. There is no need to worry about hackers stealing information if they are using public Wi-Fi, they will not need to worry about advertisers monitoring their traffic and then selling this information to others, and they have the freedom to look at geo-restricted streaming content. They offer clients complete privacy while they are surfing the web on a Windows device, a Mac, or on iOS and Android devices.Īvast SecureLine promises clients that they will have complete freedom online. This application promises to encrypt your connection with just a click of the mouse. OverviewĪvast SecureLine is the VPN client recently released by cybersecurity giant Avast. Do they respect the privacy of customers? Are they a good option for unblocking geo restrictions with streaming services like Netflix? How about torrenting? We will conclude with our final impressions and recommendations for improvement. We are going to look at how fast of a service Avast SecureLine VPN offers. We were curious to see just how well they would stack up against their competition.Ĭould they be considered a top VPN, or are they just another disappointing entry in an already saturated VPN market? However, Avast is a company that has built a reputation as being an Internet security powerhouse.įor this reason, we were excited that Avast was bringing a VPN to market. So while they live up to their claim of delivering super fast speeds, it’s inconsistency leaves something to be desired.Avast SecureLine VPN is a relative newcomer to the business. Others have seen improvements in overall connectivity speeds when logged onto the VPN servers, as compared to accessing content from a standard connection. In some cases, the VPN connection slows down internet speeds by more than 50%. (Note that the farther you are from a server, the slower it’ll be).Īll that said, Avast’s performance in speed tests isn’t as consistent or reliable as other options. A significant drop there, but still quite impressive.Īnd lastly, we connected to a server based in Australia the farthest it can be from our physical location, and we got a download speed of around 3Mbps, pretty slow yet given the distant we can accept a drop such as that. We then connected to a server in Germany, which gave us a download speed of about 44Mbps. Next we tested our connection on a UK server, and we got download speeds of around 66Mbps. We were able to pull off download speeds of around 66-67Mbps. We connected first to a server in what Avast VPN indicated as the “Optimal Location” for our connection. We used a connection that has an average download speed of around 68Mbps for our tests. However, according to Avast VPN’s advertisements, the platform has no bandwidth limits and is able to support lightning-fast speeds of up to 2Gbps, so we decided to put this bold claim to the test. This doesn’t necessarily hinder overall access, since the Avast offering covers a wide variety of locations, including parts of South America and Africa. Like with all VPN products, a big concern is whether the system will be able to load content quickly while also working hard to access information via distant server locations.Īcross the product market, SecureLine has less servers than some of its competitors like NordVPN or ExpressVPN. With Avast’s reputability in the antivirus sphere, we’re going to focus more on its speed. ![]()
